Ubiquitous Live Support Systems(uli's²-Lab)

Together with the Chair for Philosophy and Theory of Science the Chair for Building Realization and Robotics founded the Ubiquitous Live Support Systems - Lab(uli's²-Lab). It is hosted at the Chair's Robotics Laboratory, at the Faculty of Architecture. The laboratory deals with applications, strategies and basic philosophies, related to the upcoming challenges associated with the integration of advanced technologies (production technology, ICT, microsystems technology, mechatronics, automation, robotics, personal assistance technology), in daily human living.

The human being is the only living organism which steadily uses "tools". We have used tools to cultivate our land, grow our food, build up cities and communication infrastructures – tools are the basis for phenomena as culture and globalization. Some even argue that tools (and especially the wealth they are able to create for a huge amount of people) are the basis for today's global spread of freedom and democracy. Especially in ageing societies, aforementioned mechatronics and robotic power assisting "tools", might transform our way of thinking about how to utilize robot technology. A multitude of robotic devices able to restore, support, augment, and supplement human abilities has been developed up to now. In order to support a systematic development of future concepts, new application scenarios and technologies within our built environment, the uli's²-Lab conducts researches and develops through a highly interdisciplinary approach strategies and technologies, in order to support and augment human abilities.
